EUROPEAN TOUR POSTPONEMENT FAQ

By Machine Head

1. Will tickets purchased for the postponed EU shows be valid for the rescheduled dates?

Yes. All tickets will be honored for the new show dates. Those who are unable to make the new show will have the option of getting their tickets refunded. Refunds will take place at your point of purchase.

2. Is “MY” show getting postponed?

Yes.  All dates on the EU tour from April 19th until June 6th have been postponed.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  As has been reported incorrectly in the metal media, this was not our decision.  Once the government’s of several countries instated the ban on public gatherings over 1,000 people, the tour was effectively cancelled for us.  Our hope was that the tour could continue “IF” the bans were lifted in time.  Unfortunately, more public gathering ordinances came about, and these came with “indefinite suspension”, there was simply no way we could afford to lose 17 shows without bringing financial ruin on the band.

Today, more bans were announced in Germany, and we expect this to continue.  We made the heartbreaking decision to postpone the entire tour for the safety of all involved: fans, crew, band.

3. When will you have the rescheduled dates?

We are working with our booking agent, venues, and promoters to confirm new dates as fast as possible. This will take a while just due to the length and scope of the tour.  We ask you to please refrain from contacting venues and promoters as they will not have any additional information to provide you.

6. When did you make the decision to postpone the EU tour?

The decision was made yesterday morning after Germany instated the ban on public gatherings.  As Robb stated, we had been closely monitoring the situation for almost 2 weeks, when the first shows were cancelled by the governments in Switzerland and France.

7. Does anyone in the band have coronavirus?

No. We postponed the tour out of caution and concern for our fans, our touring staff, and everyone’s families and communities, and the fact that we would not be allowed to perform concerts due to the banning of public gatherings (which as of today has gone down to as low as 100 people in some countries). Thank you for your concern and support.

9. Can I still get merchandise from Ten Ton Trading Co.?

Yes. We are still shipping orders, but you can expect shipping delays for International packages due to new precautionary measures regarding travel in and out of countries. We will close the web store if we are unable to fulfill orders for any reason.

10. Is the Australian Tour in September still happening?

Yes.  At the moment there is not travel ban for the United States, and there are no specific bans on public gatherings.  Until we are told otherwise, we are proceeding as if the tour is happening.

11. Will VIP Packages purchased for the postponed EU shows be valid for the rescheduled dates?

Yes. All VIP Packages will be valid for the rescheduled shows.  Those who are unable to make the new show will have the option of getting their VIP Package refunded. Refunds will take place at your point of purchase (minus any credit card  service fees).  However we cannot guarantee your VIP spot when these shows are re-announced.

MACHINE HEAD TO POSTPONE EUROPEAN TOUR

By Machine Head

It is with heavy heart that we must announce the postponement of our upcoming EU/UK tour in support of the 25th anniversary of Burn My Eyes.

As residents of the Bay Area, we’ve been hit hard and have witnessed firsthand what has been going on.  Public gatherings of more than 1000 have been banned in San Jose, and events in downtown San Francisco including major concerts and conferences have been shut down.

We have been watching the situation overseas on a daily basis, in contact with all promoters, and local governments for the status of our concert there.  As of a week ago, we had 6 concert cancelled until the 2nd week of April, due the banning of public gathering over 1,000 people (or in some cases 100 people).  Even at that point, we still held out hope that things would be contained, and that the public gathering ordinances would be lifted by the time our tour started.

As of today, we now have 14 shows cancelled until the 2nd week of April, with 7 cancelled indefinitely. And it appears as of an hour ago, another 3 have been cancelled.

15 minutes ago the World Health Organization just declared the Coronavirus a pandemic.

Of paramount importance to us is the heath and safety of the Head Cases.  We’ve worked hard with all our management, booking agents, and business associates to find other solutions or options, but the levels of risk to our audience and their communities is simply too high for our comfort level. In addition to that, we also have a unique group of extraordinarily passionate fans who travel from all over the continent to watch our shows. We are eternally humbled by the dedication and devotion of the Head Cases, however in this case, travel is something not recommended.

So it is with deep frustration and regret that we are forced to make this announcements. The Burn My Eyes 25th anniversary tour is to be postponed and shows rescheduled for a later date, hopefully in the Fall, but possibly later.

We look forward to our next concerts with you all, and the ability to publicly gather together and play raging heavy metal for you and vent all of our collective frustration, as a result of this insane moment in history, out in the circle pit.

Stay safe, stay calm, and be well friends.

Part I - will feature a battery of MACHINE HEAD’s modern classics, such as ‘Imperium,’  ‘Halo,’ and, ‘The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears,’ featuring frontman/guitarist Robb Flynn and bassist Jared MacEachern performing alongside Vogg (Decapitated) and Matt Alston on guitar and drums.

Part II - will feature the Bay Area band’s classic debut album, ‘Burn My Eyes’ played in its entirety for the first time ever with ‘Burn My Eyes’-era alumni and MACHINE HEAD’s original drummer Chris Kontos and original guitarist, Logan Mader.

Come celebrate this momentous occasion with us!!

Guitarist / vocalist Robb Flynn adds:
"Man, it feels great to heading back to Oz, always feels like a second home when we are down there, the people, the vibe, it get completely CRAZY down there.  So fucking excited to bring the evening with and Burn My Eyes lineups, Australia, you guys will be fucking LEGENDS, I know it!!"

Bassist Jared MacEachern enthuses:
"Are you sick cunts ready for Machine Fucking Head?! You’ve been screaming for it, and now it’s time to bring the rage down under!! Australia has had a hard time recently with the fires, and New Zealand is still rebuilding after the earthquakes some years ago; we know you guys are hurting. The time has come for all of you to get out to the show, connect with your fellow Head Cases, and rage out like there is no tomorrow!! We heard a few of you say that New York City recently gave y’all a run for your money. Now is your chance to show the world how legendary Australia and New Zealand can party! Scream, bang, RAGE! MACHINE FUCKING HEAD!"

Drummer Chris Kontos says:
"One of the biggest let downs of my life was missing out on going down under with MH in 1995. It was a life long dream to be able to play music there. It has been a massive regret that has haunted me for 24 years. To be back in MH touring the world has been beyond gratifying this year. Being able to redeem myself and get to go to Australia and New Zealand is just mind blowing. I have many friends in the metal community as well as the BMX world in Oz...OI OI OI WE ARE COMING TO AUSTRALIA!  FUCK YEAH! See you all soon!"

Drummer Matt Alston adds:
"Holy shit!! Excited doesn’t even come close! I always love visiting and touring Australia and New Zealand, but now getting to play my first shows in AUS/NZ is definitely going to be an incredible experience for me!"

Guitarist Logan Mader says:
Finding out that MH BME Tour is going down under is the best news I’ve heard in a long time. My favorite place on earth... no offense to any of the other great nations I love and am so lucky to visit but Australia to me is like Disneyland to an 8 year old. The shows (and shoeys 🤪) will be legendary!!! I may never leave so if I go missing down there don’t worry or go looking for me, I’ll be fine.

Guitarist Vogg Kiełtyka is equally excited, adding:
"Aussie and NZ! WHAT AN ADVENTURE!

By Robb Flynn

Wow! Holy Fucking WOW! What an adventure!

First off… The biggest, most monumentally heart felt, and sincerest of THANKS to ALL the Head Cases who came out and raged with us on the ‘Burn My Eyes 25th Anniversary North American Tour.’  Starting out in Mid-January in Phoenix, I/we did not know what to expect.  After the completion of the European run, I promised the fellas that "the US will come through and blow us away."  You did!  Goddamn did you guys kick some serious fucking ass!  Not only does that make for an amazing evening of music but it gave us some of the most memorable shows US / Canadian shows of our ENTIRE career!

From the moment the house lights went down the electricity was mind-blowing.  I mean the reaction and energy generated by YOU was straight up legendary on some nights!! There were some genuine hair-raising, goosebump-inducing, loin-stimulating, shit-goddammit-I’m-about-to-cry-type moments on this tour.  Many thanks to you maniacs!  Oakland in particular, was an incredibly special, misty-eyed moment for all of us.  We are eternally grateful for your intensity, passion, and most importantly, your belief.  Thank you for continuing to fight the good fight even when things may have seemed to be spiraling a bit.

Every single one of my band guys made me proud night after night. As a professional musician, sometimes you must dig deep and find what it is inside that makes you WANT to do this.  It’s a personal thing to seek the motivation to step up and deliver the goods. When you do that, you lead by example and end up pushing your co-workers to greater and greater heights. The celebratory results are so much sweeter when it’s done as a unit. Please join me in raising a glass to Jared, Matt, Vogg, Chris, and Logan, for slaying not only the Metal Dragon nightly, but also the personal dragons that exist within us all.

And as nothing happens in a bubble, the six of us couldn’t do it without the help of the best road crew we’ve ever had.  Working their asses off, gelling as a team, kicking ass under some pretty tough, blizzardy conditions and making Machine Head the well-oiled machine that you guys saw up onstage.

Super-sized shout outs with extra cheese to Steve, Luke, Rodrigo, Casey, Daniel, Lukas, Party Boi, Nathan, Jern, Hannah, Leslie, Drake, Olav, Sugar Bear, Mike, Bud, Ronnie, and our pink shirt loving Kentucky lunatic, the one and only Colin!

Promoters and venues were thrilled as we broke several venue alcohol sales records!!  Shout out to all the promoters who partnered with us to bring this crazy carnival to town!  And shout out to Nuclear Blast for helping us make people aware of this special moment in our history. And last but not least.... shout out to Joey and Scott for working out the significant bumps along the road to make this whole thing get off the ground!

Yet while no adventure is complete without a couple of hiccups, there’s no doubt we had em! The flu that's been decimating the US, joined us, and it decided to run rampant through both tour buses… that shit hit EVERYONE like a goddamn freight train!  We feel terrible about having to reschedule Pontiac and Minneapolis, but as Logan so eloquently put it “it was the sickest he’s been in the last 10 years” (and that guys in great shape!). I can concur, I can’t recall a time when I was so sick my legs buckled out from under me... it was bad. We are looking into options to reschedule for the Fall now and we will keep you posted.

But once again, to the Head Cases and Lion Hearts that came out and raged so fucking hard with us on our triumphant return/celebration of our debut album, you are the life force that keeps us going, the energy you gave us could light up a goddamned city!!

Thank you

- Robb

"CIRCLE THE DRAIN" OUT NOW!

By Machine Head

For immediate release, Oakland, CA.

MACHINE HEAD DROP NEW TRACK "CIRCLE THE DRAIN"  — LISTEN

Bay Area titans MACHINE HEAD have shared the brand new song "Circle The Drain."

Download 24 BIT HD quality FLAC and WAV files direct from the band here:

https://www.machinehead1.com/collections/digital-tracks

Guitarist / vocalist Robb Flynn describes the song as the anti-Valentine's Day song.  "The song is inspired by an acquaintance of mine who returned from Afghanistan only to have his relationship fall apart with his girl.  She had messed around on him, then got paranoid about him messing around on her, and drove him crazy.  We had a conversation on Valentine's Day and he said to me "they were just circling the drain”… the phrase struck me.  A few days later I incorporated it into the song I’d been working on.

It was a strange parallel with my life at the time, having recently had two band members quit, and even more bizarrely, two long-time couple friends of my wife and I, also divorce. It was break-up-season, and it played out with friends taking sides, people not being invited to certain events anymore, social and emotional pressure, and all the typical stuff that happens when a relationship goes bad.

Watching this guy pull through it, helped me pull through my own upheaval. The lyrics to 'Circle The Drain' came out of that frustrating time. It's a sad song about relationships gone bad, but accepting that it's over, and making yourself move on.  It's written in a more metaphorical tone, as I didn’t want it to be about my life, but to be about anybody’s life who may be going through a rough time. It may not be a song that connects with everyone, especially those in a solid relationship, but if the day ever comes when your life goes awry, this song will be a lifeline for you, something to help pull you up out of that dark place.

The irony that he and I had the original conversation on Valentine's Day, and are now releasing it on Valentine's Day isn’t lost on me, it really is the anti-Valentine's Day song.”

The song was once again produced by Robb Flynn (Machine Head’s - Through The Ashes Of Empires, The Blackening, Bloodstone & Diamonds), and co-produced by Zach Ohren (All Shall Perish, Suicide Silence, Machine Head) at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland.  Joel Wanasek (Attilla, Bloodline) once-again handled post-production duties, while Russ Russell (At The Gates, The Wildhearts, Dimmu Borgir) over at Parlour Studios UK handled the beefy, guitar-heavy song mix.  Finally the track was mastered by the same gentleman who mastered “Through The Ashes Of Empires” Greg Grimaldi at Oasis Mastering.  “Circle The Drain" features the drumming of Navene Koperweis (Entheos, Whitechapel, Animals As Leaders, Animosity).

Single art was created by Christian Sampson based on his photography-project based around mental disorders.  Sampson compiled a list of 12 mental disorders, ranging from depression to schizophrenia to insomnia.  The purposefully dark visuals are emotively powerful in their narration of the mental illness and image chosen for the single art is called “Panic"

Making Of "CIRCLE THE DRAIN" Pt. 2

By Machine Head

Jared and Robb hit Echo Mountain Recording in North Carolina while on tour in 2018 to work on ideas, but not much comes of it.  Robb struggles to find a chorus lyric until a chance conversation with a friend who returned from Afghanistan and whose relationship fell apart.  Navene Koperweis (Entheos, Whitechapel, Animals As Leaders, Animosity) tracks drums on the track.
